1. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40-60 words:
a) Discuss how ‘gender studies’ emerged as an area of study. Using suitable examples discuss how is ‘gender studies’ an area interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and trans disciplinary at the same time? (See Lesson 1)
b) How did social reformers like Raja Ram Mohan Roy and in the in the 19th century Swami Vivekananda succeeded in setting up the stage for launching a struggle to create a gender-just society? (See Lesson 4)

2. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40-60words.
a) What do you understand by the term ‘sex-ratio’ ? As per 2011 Census India’s sex ratio is 940, highlight the factors responsible for India’s skewed sex ratio. (See Lesson 6)
b) What is the relationship between women and natural resources? Using suitable examples discuss how depletion of natural resources impact women’s life in rural, urban and tribal settings. (See Lesson 8)

b) How does labour legislation – The Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 ensures guaranteed equality and equal treatment to women workers in India? Suggest any two important issues that need to be addressed for improving conditions of women workers in India. (See Lesson 17)

a) Using examples discuss how media has played an essential role in the highlighting gender bias in India. Discuss any two films that have played an important role in creating awareness around gender issues. (See Lesson 20)
b) Highlight the role of different agencies for promotion of women’s education in pre-independent India. Do you think Christian Missionaries played an important role in promoting women’s education in India? Explain. (See Lesson 9)

5. Answer any one of the following questions in about 100-150 words
a) According to you which is the most important dimension of women’s empowerment. How does National Policy for the Empowerment of Women addresses the issues of gender justice and equality in India? (See Lesson 17)
b) Do you think women can play an important role in conserving biodiversity in India? Deliberate on any two mass movements led by women for environment conservation. Discuss how women can play an important role towards sustainable development in the coming future? (See Lesson 8)

6. Prepare any one project out of the given below:
a) Talk to four (4) females belonging to four (4) different religions (Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian) find out the various gender role expectations in all these four religions. Are they different from those of your religion? Compare the similarities and dissimilarities across the four religions with respect to gender role expectations. (See Lesson 1)
b) Interact with five (5) women working in formal sector. Understand their comprehension about the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prohibition, Prevention & Redressal) Act 2013. Find out how has safe work place improved their participation in work. (See Lesson 6)
